We will give recital instructions prior to rehearsing the Finale and will call dancers in groups by class to proceed backstage with our staff and volunteers, including our designated volunteer class moms. After performing their dance routine(s), parents can pick up their dancer in the dressing room area. We’re going to hold dancers 6 & under until a parent picks them up. Dancers older than that can go find you in the auditorium. Dancers are welcome to rehearse in all Finale practices, however, it is not required. Please feel free to take photos and videos of your dancer’s dress rehearsal performance(s). Photography and video are discouraged during the Saturday & Sunday performances.
Doors open 1 hour prior to show time. We recommend you arrive at that time with your dancer wearing his/her/their costume and hair and performance make-up done. The Washington Center for the Performing Arts is located at 512 Washington St SE, Olympia, 98501 (Parking can be a challenge downtown, so allow plenty of time).

You can take your dancer with you through the main entrance or drop them off with our volunteers who will escort them to the dressing room area. Recital Logistics for Young Dancers
Please make sure your dancer has used the restroom and drop your dancer off “ready to dance” in their costume with hair and make-up done and wearing their dance shoes. If your dancer has more than one routine, bring a bag with their costume (including shoes, tights and accessories all labeled with dancer’s name and name of dance on the bag) to leave with Dressing room staff. Please do not leave any other belongings (including street shoes, jackets, water bottles, etc.). Dancers will be monitored in the Black Box dressing room by teachers and volunteers. There will be a TV monitor so they can watch the show and cups of water will be provided.
If you have a dancer in one of our Mini age Classes and you would prefer to have your dancer to sit with you, please coordinate with the class mom backstage so they’re not worried. Your dancer can sit on your lap or you may purchase a reserved seat for them. If they’re with you, please be sure to bring them backstage at least 5 numbers before they dance and/or 3 numbers before the end of the show so they’re ready for the finale.
